The Gluten Free Expo in SLC, UT is something gfHubs and I look forward to every year. If you haven’t been to some kind of gluten free expo, I would encourage you to find one near you and put it on the calendar.
Here are a few links to get you started:
GF Expo in SLC, UT
GF & AF Expo
Gluten Free Food Allergy Fest
Gluten Free Expo-CANADA
Gluten Free For Life Expo
Gluten and Allergen Free Wellness Event
The Gluten Free Expo in SLC features presentations all day, from the likes of Gluten Free Mama teaching how to make the perfect pie crust (yes, a perfect gluten free pie crust is a real thing!).
And you can’t beat dozens upon dozens of gluten free booths with safe food for you to try.
Sweet Cakes is a local dedicated gluten free bakery in UT that features breads, rolls, cookies, and bars. Everything is amazing, but you can see how excited we were for the brownies!
Most vendors are great to post the ingredient list/allergen info front and center for those of us who have multiple dietary concerns (can we get that on restaurant menus?!), but never be afraid to ask questions at a gluten free event such as this, or elsewhere.
My favorite parts of the Expo are meeting old and new friends in the gluten free community and finding new products I love.
I somehow failed to get a picture, but I also got to meet Annica and Monica from Core Frequency. They’re sisters (twins actually!) who both have celiac and have learned how to live healthy and happy lives. Love their positive attitudes! You can check out their facebook page HERE or their YouTube channel HERE
Also, you can find a list of favorite gluten free products HERE . It’s a tiered list of our favorites and those we wouldn’t recommend-so save yourself some $$$ and check it out!
On to our favorite finds:
Our first stop was gfHubs’ favorite store bought bread-Franz. It can be stored on the shelf for up to a week and never gets crumbly so we use it often for sandwiches. See this wonderful lady? She’s grabbing us an entire loaf to take home for free. Thanks Franz!
If you haven’t tried Chef Shamy flavored butters, you’re missing out! The French Onion flavor makes a mean grilled cheese sandwich, and I could eat the Brown Sugar and Cinnamon with a spoon 😉
Have you ever tried Brazilian Cheese Bread? Our first taste was at a Brazilian BBQ restaurant years ago. It’s traditionally made with tapioca flour, so it’s naturally gluten free aside from any cross contamination risks. These ones are safe, and just as good as any I’ve tasted! Love. This is our favorite exhibit every year. Sweet Cake Bake Shop cooks up some delicious goods-from rolls to brownies to cookies, they’ve got it all. As my faithful readers might easily guess, the brownies are my fav! If you’re ever in Salt Lake City, UT be sure to stop by!
Here’s another local favorite-New Grains dedicated gluten free bakery here in UT. They make great breads, and our favorite is this sour dough! We used a loaf for Thanksgiving stuffing, but not before eating a few slices straight out of the bag because it’s that good. Click here to order on Amazon
There are a lot of great gluten free subscription box options right now, but we discovered a new one that had some really cool features! It’s called Crafted and one of their options is a Kid’s Overnight Box, designed with a handle so that kids can take a box of snacks to share with their friends or grandparents when they have a night away. Love it!
The best gluten free donuts you’ll find. gfHubs may or may not sneak back a few times for 2nds and 3rds
All of them. But especially the Gingerbread!
